Two Acebeam throwers, AED 200 apart. The E10 2.0 at AED 249 is an 88 mm pocket light rated to 715 metres. The T29 at AED 449 is a 195 mm hunting-and-search light rated to 1,400 metres. Read only the headline row and the maths looks easy: 80% more money, 96% more reach, pick whichever your budget allows. But Acebeam publishes the full ANSI FL1 table for both, and the table tells a different story. The E10 2.0 holds its 715-metre peak for thirty seconds. The T29 then cruises at 856 metres for almost two hours — further than the small light ever reaches, even at its best. We reviewed each on its own (E10 2.0, T29). This page puts them side by side and answers the only question that matters: which one should you buy?

The 30-second verdict

Buy the E10 2.0 if the light has to live in a pocket, a glovebox or a jacket, and “long range” means picking out a signpost, a gate or a dog a few hundred metres away for a few seconds at a time. Nothing else we sell reaches this far at 106 grams, and nothing else does it for AED 249.

Buy the T29 if the job is to watch distance rather than glance at it: a dune line, a farm boundary, a fishing spot, a security perimeter. It reaches twice as far as the E10 2.0, holds that reach for two hours instead of half a minute, carries six and a half times the battery energy, and has a tail switch you can fire without looking. It costs AED 200 more and weighs three times as much, and both of those are the price of doing the job properly.

The trap is buying the E10 2.0 to do the T29’s job because it is cheaper and the box also says “long range”. It is a superb pocket thrower. It is not a searchlight. Everything below is Acebeam’s own published data, quoted as printed.

Thirty seconds versus two hours

Here is the row most buyers never read. Both lights list a Turbo mode; both step down from it. The difference is when and to what.

Look at the fourth row. Thirty-three minutes into a search, the E10 2.0 is a 241-metre light and the T29 is still an 856-metre light. That is not a 2× gap; it is 3.5×. And the T29’s cruising figure of 856 m is longer than the E10 2.0’s peak of 715 m. To match the big light’s two-hour reach, the small one would need 183,000 candela; its best-ever moment is 128,000. The E10 2.0 never gets there, not even for the first thirty seconds.

None of this is a criticism of the E10 2.0. A 16340 cell has about 3 watt-hours in it; asking it to run a 1,200-lumen emitter for long would cook the light in your hand. Why a 66 mm reflector beats a 40 mm lens

The E10 2.0 throws 715 m from 1,200 lumens; the T29 throws 1,400 m from 2,900. Lumens went up 2.4×, reach went up 2×, and the intensity behind that reach went up 3.8× (127,806 to 490,000 cd). Where did the extra come from? The optic.

The E10 2.0 uses a 40 mm head with a TIR lens, which is the right choice for a pocket light: it makes a clean, defined hotspot from a tiny package, and it is what lets an 88 mm torch out-throw most 21700 lights. The T29 uses a 66 mm smooth reflector wrapped around a small, very intense SFT-42R die. A reflector that wide collects and collimates far more of the emitter’s light, so almost all of it lands in the hotspot instead of spilling around it. Candela scales with reflector area far more than with lumens, which is why the T29 delivers nearly four times the intensity from less than two and a half times the light. The practical consequence: at 300 metres, the E10 2.0 on Turbo shows you that something is there. The T29 on its two-hour High shows you what it is.

The honesty check: do both tables add up?

We run the same sanity test on every Acebeam table: multiply each mode’s lumens by its runtime and see whether the total light out (lumen-hours) is roughly constant across modes, which it must be if the numbers are real and come from the same cell.

E10 2.0: Low 15 lm × 25 h = 375; Med 150 lm × 2 h 50 plus its 15-lumen tail = 455; High 500 lm × 35 min plus tail = 379; Turbo, with all its steps, = 364. Everything lands between 360 and 455 lm·h from an 850 mAh cell. Consistent.

T29: Low 80 lm × 37 h = 2,960; Med1 200 × 15 h = 3,000; Med2 550 × 5.5 h = 3,025; High 1,150 × 2 h 05 = 2,396; Turbo 4 min plus 1 h 50 at 1,150 = 2,302. Everything lands between 2,300 and 3,025 lm·h from 5,600 mAh. Consistent again, and the ratio between the two lights — roughly 6.5 to 7× the light out — matches the 6.6× difference in battery energy almost exactly.

So neither table is inflated, and the comparison is fair. What the check also shows is that the T29 is not just brighter; it carries nearly seven times the total light. For a two-hour job you are not paying AED 200 for 2× the light. You are paying it for 7×.

Size: pocket versus holster

This is the argument for the E10 2.0, and it is a strong one. At 88 mm and 106.5 g it is shorter than a Baton 4 Pro and lighter than most phones. It disappears into a jeans pocket, sits in a car door bin, clips to a lanyard on a rucksack strap. You will carry it, which means you will have it. The magnetic tail is not a gimmick either: stuck to a car body on the hard shoulder or a steel post at a campsite, a 500-lumen light that reaches 426 m and works hands-free is a lot of capability for the size.

The T29 is 195 mm and 308.5 g. It fits a jacket pocket, a holster, a door pocket in a 4×4, a belt. It does not fit trousers. That is nearly three times the weight and more than twice the length of the E10 2.0, and no amount of specification reading changes the fact that a light you leave at home because it is bulky throws zero metres. Be honest with yourself about which one you will actually pick up.

Batteries: the small cell is the small light’s whole story

The E10 2.0 runs on a single 16340, an 850 mAh cell about the size of a AA cut in half. Acebeam puts the USB-C port on the cell itself, so you charge the battery rather than the light. That keeps the light simple and sealed, but it means you need that battery or another USB-C 16340; a plain 16340 with no port needs a separate charger. The emergency fallback is a CR123 primary cell, which works at reduced output and which you will struggle to find in a UAE petrol station. Our advice from the E10 2.0 review stands: if you want a pocket light whose backup battery is on every supermarket shelf, look at the TAC AA 2.0 (AED 147, 280 m) or the K1 (AED 269) instead. Both take a AA.

The T29 runs on a 21700, the most common high-capacity cell in the industry. The included 5,600 mAh high-drain cell is one of the largest 21700s made, and any decent 21700 will run the light as a spare. Charging is through a hidden USB-C port on the body, so a phone cable and a power bank keep it going for a weekend. Carry a spare in a case, not loose in a pocket with keys: the Acebeam A2 battery box (AED 69) exists for exactly this. Controls: one button versus a tail you can fire blind

The E10 2.0 has one side switch. Press for on, hold to cycle, and that is the interface; one of Acebeam’s own reviewers notes it takes a minute to learn. It is fine for a light you use deliberately.

The T29 has a tactical tail switch that fires Turbo the instant you press it, a side switch for cycling modes, a battery-level indicator and an optional remote pressure switch for mounting. This is the interface of a light you use reactively: something moves on the dune line, thumb on the tail, 2,900 lumens at 1,400 m before you have consciously decided anything. What they share

Both are machined from AL6061-T6 aluminium, hard-anodised, rated IP68 and 1.5 m drop, both use a 6,500K cool-white emitter with no neutral or high-CRI option, both come in black only, both include a lanyard, and both are covered by Acebeam’s warranty through us. Both have a strobe, neither has a red light or a UV mode. Neither is a flood light; if you want to light a campsite rather than look across one, neither is the answer. On every performance metric the T29 is the better buy per dirham, and on battery energy it is not close. The E10 2.0 wins only the last row, which is the whole point: you are paying a premium for the absence of grams. That is a perfectly good thing to pay for, as long as you know that is what you are buying.

Who should buy which

E10 2.0: the glovebox light for a night-time tyre change on the E11, stuck to the wing by its tail magnet. The dog-walk light for Al Qudra or the Corniche when you want to see what is moving 200 m ahead. The Hatta trail light that fits in shorts. The gift for someone who will never carry anything heavier than their phone. The second light for a T29 owner. T29: the farm or camel-camp light for checking the boundary from the gate. The fishing light for reading the water 400 m out from a rock at Fujairah. The security light for a perimeter you watch rather than walk. Both: AED 698 together, which is still AED 51 less than a single P20. A pocket thrower on you and a real thrower in the car is a more useful pair than one expensive light that is always in the wrong place.

The catches, shared and separate

Heat. Both step-down timers are measured at room temperature. In a UAE summer, with the body already at 45°C before you press the button, expect the E10 2.0’s thirty seconds and the T29’s four minutes to shrink. The T29’s big aluminium body has far more mass to soak heat into, so it suffers less. Do not leave either in a parked car in July; the cells will not thank you (summer heat guide).

E10 2.0 specifically. Thirty seconds of Turbo. A proprietary-ish battery situation. A beam so narrow that at arm’s length it is almost useless for reading a map; the listing says “for camping” and we would say it is the light you look out from camp with, not the one you cook by. Cool white only.

T29 specifically. 308 g and 195 mm; not a pocket light by any definition. No neutral-white option, which matters for hunters and anglers who want to read colour at distance. The green filter and remote switch are extras, not in the box. And because the tail switch fires Turbo instantly, keep it locked out in a bag, or you will find out how warm 42 watts gets a rucksack.

Flying. Both travel in carry-on with the cell installed, and any spare cell goes carry-on only, in a case; the UAE lithium battery rules post has the airline specifics.

The bottom line

The E10 2.0 and T29 are not rivals. One is the furthest-reaching pocket light we sell; the other is the best-value real thrower we sell. The mistake is reading “715 m” and “1,400 m” as points on the same line and choosing by budget. Read the second row of the runtime table instead: thirty seconds, then 426 m for half an hour; versus four minutes, then 856 m for two hours. If the first description fits how you will use the light, save AED 200 and enjoy an astonishing little torch.
