At AED 59, the Olight i3E EOS is the cheapest torch we stock. It is also, by a wide margin, the one most likely to actually be on you when the lights go out.
That sentence contains both the sales pitch and the catch. Let’s do the catch first.
The 30-second verdict
What it is: a 19-gram, AAA-powered keychain light. Twist the head, you get 90 lumens. Twist it back, it’s off. There is no second mode, no button, no charging port, and nothing to learn.
The catch: 90 lumens is genuinely dim by 2026 standards. Our Acebeam Keylite 500 costs AED 89 — thirty dirhams more — and puts out 500 lumens to 70 metres. On paper the i3E loses that fight badly.
Why we still sell a lot of them: because the 500-lumen number lasts 20 seconds. Because the Keylite needs charging and the i3E takes a battery you can buy at any supermarket in the Emirates. Because at 19.4 g and 60 mm it is the only light in this shop that people clip on and then genuinely forget about — which is the entire job of a keychain light.
Buy it if you want a light that is always there for small jobs. Skip it if you expect it to be your only torch.
Who it’s for
- Anyone who has never owned a proper torch. This is the standard first Olight for a reason — nothing to configure, nothing to break.
- Second-light buyers. You already carry a Baton 4 or similar; this lives on the keys as the one that never runs flat.
- Households. Six colours at AED 59 means one per family member, each on their own keyring, for less than a single mid-range torch.
- Gift buyers. It is the easiest AED 59 gift in the shop that doesn’t feel like a throwaway.

Three things Olight doesn’t put on the box
1. There is no runtime figure — anywhere
We went through the full manufacturer spec sheet for this light. It lists size, weight, waterproofing, packaging and box contents. It does not list runtime. Not for 90 lumens, not for anything.
We are not going to invent a number. What we can tell you is what the physics implies: a single alkaline AAA holds roughly a tenth of the energy of the 18650 cell in a mid-size torch, so treat this as a light for minutes at a time, not hours. 2. One mode means exactly one mode
Most keychain lights in this shop give you a low mode for reading a menu or checking on a sleeping child without blinding anyone. The i1R 2 Pro has 180 lumens and a 5-lumen low. The i3T 2 EOS has 200 and 5.
The i3E has 90. That’s it. In a dark bedroom at 2 a.m., 90 lumens off a white wall is brighter than you want. There is no way to turn it down.
3. The twist is a two-hand operation
Head-twist activation is why this light can be so small and so cheap — there is no switch assembly inside. The trade-off is that you cannot flick it on one-handed while carrying shopping. You need a hand on the body and a hand on the head. It sounds trivial until you’re holding a toddler.
What it’s actually good at in the UAE
Finding the keyhole. Villa entrances and older building lobbies in Deira, Sharjah and Al Ain are genuinely dark. Ninety lumens at arm’s length is plenty, and the light is already in your hand because it is on the keys.
The car. Because it runs on an alkaline AAA rather than a sealed lithium cell, this is one of the few lights we are relaxed about leaving in a glovebox through a Dubai August. A dead alkaline is a two-dirham problem; a heat-stressed lithium cell is not. We go into this properly in our UAE summer heat guide.
Power cuts. Not as the main light — for that see our home blackout kit — but as the light that gets you from the sofa to the drawer where the real lights are.
Getting wet. IPX8 on a AED 59 light is not a given. Dropped in a sink, rained on, left in a wet pocket: fine. If you want to know what those letters actually promise, we explain them in IP ratings made simple.

Read that table honestly and the i3E is last on brightness and last on features. So here is the counter-argument, using the manufacturers’ own numbers:
- The Keylite 500’s headline 500 lumens runs for 20 seconds before stepping to 260, then to 50. Its honest sustained figure is closer to 50 lumens — below the i3E.
- The i1R 2 Pro’s 180 lumens runs 23 minutes, then you need a cable. Its battery is 130 mAh and sealed in.
- The imini 2 is dimmer than the i3E and only IPX6 — splash-resistant, not submersible.
- The i3T 2 EOS is the genuinely better torch, and it is more than twice the weight and nearly double the price.

About those six colours
We stock Black, Summer Palm, 18th Anniversary Edition, Auspicious Clouds, Blue Porcelain and Astral Cobalt — ten of each. This matters more than it sounds. A black keychain light in a black bag is a black keychain light you can’t find; the Summer Palm and Blue Porcelain finishes are genuinely easier to spot. They also make the AED 59 feel like a gift rather than a spare part.
Should you buy it?
Yes, if you understand you are buying availability, not output. Ninety lumens that is always in your pocket beats 3,000 lumens sitting in a drawer at home, and that is not a slogan — it is the most common lesson our customers report back.
No, if this is meant to be your only torch. Spend AED 109 on the i3T 2 EOS or AED 210 on the Baton 4 and keep the i3E as the backup.
Our honest recommendation: buy one of each. A proper EDC torch for the pocket, and an i3E on the keys for everything else. Together they cost less than most single mid-range lights, and you will use the AED 59 one more often.
