
We stock two Acebeam work headlamps. One claims 4,000 lumens and costs AED 389. The other claims 2,600 lumens and costs AED 307. On a shelf that looks like a simple question: pay AED 82 more, get 54 % more light.
It is not that simple. Put the two spec sheets side by side and the first thing you notice is that they reach the same distance. The second thing you notice is that one of these lamps has runtime figures that cannot be true as written. This is that comparison.
The 30-second verdict
Buy the H35 (AED 307) if you want the headlamp that will still be working in two years. It is IP68, lighter, AED 82 cheaper, has a far more useful red mode, and every number on its spec sheet is internally consistent.
Buy the H30 (AED 389) if you genuinely need more sustained light. Its honest working level is 1,100 lumens for 3 hours — roughly double what the H35 holds — and it takes a swappable 21700 with a green aux LED the H35 does not have.
The catch, for both: neither lamp reaches further than the other. The H30 peaks at 171 m / 7,300 cd, the H35 at 170 m / 7,225 cd — a 1 % difference. That AED 82 buys you sustained brightness, not distance. And the H30’s headline 4,000 lumens is the least trustworthy number on either page.
The number nobody puts on the box: they reach the same distance
Lumens measure total light output. Candela measures how concentrated that light is, and candela — not lumens — is what decides how far a beam actually throws. (If that distinction is new, our lumens vs candela explainer covers it properly.)
Here are both lamps at their maximum:

One percent. On a spec sheet where one lamp claims 54 % more light, the reach is identical. That is not a mistake — it is what happens when the extra lumens go into a wider flood rather than a tighter beam. The H30 lights up more of the room; it does not light up anything further away.
So if you are buying a headlamp to see further, neither of these is the answer, and the cheaper one is not worse at it. Both are flood-biased work lamps. (Why beam shape matters more than output: flood vs throw.)

We ran the runtime maths. One of these spec sheets does not add up.
Here is a check anyone can do. Multiply each mode’s output by its runtime and you get lumen-hours — roughly, the total amount of light one charge can deliver. A single battery holds a fixed amount of energy, so across modes that figure should land in the same ballpark. It drifts a little (LEDs are less efficient when driven hard, and driver overhead dominates at very low output), but it should not swing wildly.
The H35, on a 3,800 mAh 18650:

Every mode lands between 2,100 and 2,420 lumen-hours. That is what an honest spec sheet looks like: Acebeam prints the step-downs, and the arithmetic closes.
Now the H30, on a larger 5,000 mAh 21700:

Low, Mid and High cluster sensibly at 2,820–3,300 lumen-hours. (Ultra-Low’s 600 is normal — at 3 lumens the electronics use more power than the LED.) But Turbo claims 1.5× that baseline and Turbo-Max claims 2.4× it — from the same cell, on the same night.
Energy does not appear from nowhere. The only reading that makes sense is that the H30’s Turbo and Turbo-Max rows are runtime-until-the-battery-dies, including a step-down that Acebeam has not printed. Acebeam publishes those step-downs for the H35 (“2,600 → 1,100 → 500”). For the H30’s two brightest modes, it simply gives you a single number and a total time.
What this means practically: do not buy the H30 as a 4,000-lumen headlamp. Buy it as an 1,100-lumen / 3-hour headlamp with a bright burst available. That is still a real advantage over the H35’s 500-lumen sustained level — more than double — but it is a different purchase from the one the box describes. We did this exercise across our whole range in we timed every torch we sell.

The gap that actually matters in the UAE: IP68 vs nothing
The H35 is IP68 — sealed against dust ingress entirely, and rated for continuous immersion. The H30’s listing carries no IP rating at all. Not a low one. None published.
We flagged the same gap in our standalone H30 review and it has not changed. It matters more here than it would in Europe: the first digit of an IP code is dust, and a headlamp in the UAE lives in exactly the conditions that digit exists for — a site in Al Quoz, a workshop in Sharjah, a wadi track in a summer wind. A lamp marketed for mining and industrial work with no published dust rating is a real gap, whatever the lumen count. (What IP68 actually promises.)
If the lamp is going somewhere dusty, wet, or both, this single line decides it: take the H35.
Red light: not the small difference it looks like
Both have a red mode. They are not comparable.
- H35 red: 200 lumens, 992 cd, 63 m, 10 min then 100 lm for 9.5 h — plus a red SOS that runs 44 hours.
- H30 red: 50 lumens, 60 cd, 15 m, 10 h.
The H35’s red is four times brighter and reaches four times further — it is a genuine working and signalling light. The H30’s red is a night-vision courtesy mode: fine for reading a gauge or a map without wrecking your dark adaptation, useless for being seen from down the road. If you work roadside or need a distress signal, that 44-hour SOS is a serious argument for the cheaper lamp.
The H30’s counter-offer is green (70 lm, 11 h), which the H35 has no equivalent of. Green preserves night vision like red but reads terrain and vegetation far better — a real niche if you are observing wildlife or working quietly at night.
Battery, weight and the things you feel
The H30 carries a 21700 with 5,000 mAh; the H35 an 18650 with 3,800 mAh. Both are included, both are removable — which means both let you carry a charged spare for a long shift instead of hunting for a socket. That is a genuine advantage over sealed-in designs like the Olight Perun 3, and it is the main reason we recommend either of these for actual work. On the head, the H35 is 27 g lighter (163 g vs 190 g, both including battery and headband). Neither is a running lamp — for that you want something like the 54 g Perun 2 Mini. Over an eight-hour shift, though, 27 g on your forehead is not nothing.
The H35 also has Acebeam’s 70° adjustable bracket, which tilts smoothly from the ground at your feet to the far wall. The H30 answers with a lockout mode so it cannot switch itself on in a bag — the more useful feature if the lamp lives in a kit bag between jobs.
What neither of them tells you
- H30: no IP rating published. The single biggest omission on either lamp.
- H30: no step-down published for Turbo or Turbo-Max, which is what makes the 4,000-lumen claim unverifiable from the sheet alone.
- H35: no colour temperature published for the white LEDs. Assume cool white, but Acebeam does not say — and tint changes how a surface reads under it (colour temperature and CRI explained).
- H35: no candela below Turbo. You know it reaches 170 m for 60 seconds; you do not know what it reaches at the 500 lumens it actually holds.
- Neither publishes a CRI figure, so neither is the right choice if colour accuracy matters to your work.
- Both are black only in the UAE.
So which one should you buy?
Take the H35 at AED 307 if: the lamp goes anywhere dusty or wet; you want the brighter red and a 44-hour SOS; you wear it for long shifts and want the lighter one; or you simply want the lamp whose spec sheet you can trust line by line. For most buyers, most of the time, this is the one — and it is the cheaper one, which does not happen often.
Take the H30 at AED 389 if: you need 1,100 sustained lumens rather than 500 and will pay AED 82 for it; you want the bigger 21700 so a spare cell lasts longer; you want the green aux LED; or you need lockout because it rattles around in a bag. Just buy it knowing what it holds, not what it peaks at.
