The short answer
Buy the Olight Perun 2 Mini (AED 229) if you're on the move: running, hiking, anything where you want to forget the light is on your head. Buy the Olight Perun 3 (AED 369) if you're staying put for hours: camping, fishing, working on a car or a site.
Ignore the 1,100 and 3,000 lumens on the boxes. Both peaks last about two minutes. What decides it is the light left afterwards: 250 lumens for 85 minutes on the Mini, 800 lumens for three hours on the Perun 3. And one number surprises almost everyone. With nearly three times the lumens, the Perun 3 reaches only 10 metres further.

The number that matters: what's left after two minutes
Every headlamp we sell runs its headline output for a minute or two, then steps down to protect the LED and the battery. We timed the whole range in our turbo article. For these two Olights, the step-down is where the real difference shows:
- Perun 2 Mini: 1,100 lumens for about 2 minutes, then 250 lumens for 85 minutes.
- Perun 3: 3,000 lumens for about 2 minutes, then 800 lumens for 180 minutes, then 600 lumens for another 30.
After the burst, the Perun 3 is 3.2 times brighter and keeps going for twice as long. That's not Olight being generous with one model. It's the battery: 5,000 mAh against 650 mAh, close to eight times the capacity. Most of the 96 extra grams on your forehead is that cell.
Why the brighter one barely reaches further
Reach comes from candela, which measures how tightly the light is focused, not from lumens. Olight rates the Perun 3 at 6,400 candela and the Mini at 5,950, which is why their beams stop at 160 and 150 metres. The Perun 3 spends its extra lumens on width: it lights a whole campsite rather than a point on the far side of a wadi.
For a headlamp that's the right trade, because most of what you light is the ground a few steps ahead, the inside of a tent or an engine bay. If you need to pick out something a few hundred metres away, that's a handheld thrower's job. Our lumens vs candela explainer and flood vs throw guide cover it properly.
The modes you'll actually live in
| Job | Perun 3 | Perun 2 Mini |
|---|---|---|
| Walking pace on a trail | 600 lm for 300 min (High) | 250 lm for 100 min (Level 2) |
| Cooking, camp chores | 120 lm for 25 h | 60 lm for 7 h |
| Reading in the tent | 30 lm for 89 h | 15 lm for 26 h |
| All-night marker | 5 lm for 20 days | 2 lm for 10 days |
| Red light | 60 lm for 14 h, or 15 lm for 70 h | 40 lm for 150 min |
Look at the camp row. The Mini's 60-lumen mode lasts one night, so it goes back on the cable every morning. The Perun 3's 120-lumen mode is twice as bright and runs for 25 hours, which covers a two-night weekend in the dunes without a charge.
The red light gap is bigger than it looks. The Mini's single red lasts two and a half hours. The Perun 3's low red runs for 70, which is what you want when you're re-tying rigs on a breakwater at 2 am without blinding the person next to you. Our night fishing guide has the rest of that kit.
Weight on your head

54 grams against 150. On a run, a heavy headlamp bounces and slides down your forehead, and at 54 g the Mini simply doesn't. It's the one we'd take on a pre-dawn loop at Al Qudra or a 5 am start on the Hatta trails. It swivels through 180° and unclips from the band to ride on a cap brim.
The Perun 3 is built for standing still. The magnetic tail sticks to a steel panel or door frame while you work, the pocket clip turns it into a right-angle light on a shirt or a strap, and the big metal switch works with gloves on. Some owners find 150 g top-heavy under a hard hat and clip it to a shoulder strap instead. For the trail-by-trail version of this choice, see our UAE hiking headlamp guide.
Charging and tint: read this before you order
Neither lamp has a USB-C port. The Mini charges on Olight's MCC magnetic cable and the Perun 3 on the MCC3, and both cables come in the box. Neither battery is a swap-anywhere cell: the Mini's 16340 is Olight's own, and the Perun 3's 21700 is sealed in. If the cable stays at home, the lamp waits until you do, so keep the two together. If USB-C charging or a swappable battery matters more to you than Olight's features, our Acebeam H30 vs Perun 3 comparison is the next read.
On tint, the Perun 3 is cool white (5,700 to 6,700K). Olight makes the Perun 2 Mini in both cool and neutral white, and our listing doesn't split them. If tint matters to you, email us before ordering and we'll check the carton.
Which one for which UAE night
| Where you'll use it | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-dawn run or walk | Perun 2 Mini | 54 g, no bounce, and 250 lm is plenty at running pace |
| Dawn hike at Hatta or Wadi Shawka, back by mid-morning | Perun 2 Mini | Light enough to forget once the sun is up |
| Jebel Jais or a long wadi with a late descent | Perun 3 | 800 lm for three hours if the last stretch is in the dark |
| Weekend desert camp | Perun 3 | 120 lm for 25 hours, no charging between nights |
| Night fishing | Perun 3 | Two red levels, the low one for 70 hours, and IP68 |
| Engine bay or a roadside stop at night | Perun 3 | Magnetic tail leaves both hands free |
| Jacket pocket or running belt, just in case | Perun 2 Mini | 64 mm long, and it doubles as a clip-on torch |
Plenty of our customers end up with both: the Perun 3 for camp and car, the Mini living in a jacket or a running belt. Together they come to AED 598. Whichever you keep in the car, bring it into the house from June to September. Our summer heat guide explains what a parked car does to lithium cells.
Price and delivery
The Perun 3 is AED 369 in Black or Dream Blue and ships free, because it's over our AED 300 line. The Perun 2 Mini is AED 229 in Black or OD Green and ships for a flat AED 10 on its own. Cash on delivery is available across the UAE, delivery usually takes 1 to 3 days, and you have 14 days to return. First order with us? The code WELCOME10 takes 10% off.
Our pick
If you're buying one headlamp and you don't run with it, get the Perun 3. The extra AED 140 buys 3.2 times the sustained light, more than twice the runtime at that brightness, a second red level and a magnet. If you run, hike fast or just hate the feel of a headlamp, the Perun 2 Mini is the one you'll actually wear, and a headlamp left in the drawer lights nothing.
