The LOOP GEAR LOOPDOT is the odd one out on our shelf, and we are going to be straight with you about that. It is a 400-lumen pocket light wrapped around a 52-LED RGB pixel display and a knurled fidget dial — part torch, part desk toy. If you want the most light per dirham, this is not it. If you want the only thing in the shop that people pick up and refuse to put down, this is it.

What it actually does

  • 400 lumens, 100 m beam. Enough for a dark stairwell, a dropped key, a walk to the car — not a work light.
  • Fidget dial with stepless dimming. The ring turns smoothly and sets brightness anywhere between minimum and full, rather than stepping through fixed modes.
  • Shake to switch. A flick of the wrist toggles between flood and spot, so you change beam shape without touching a button.
  • 52-LED RGB pixel display with 11 play modes, including interactive mini-games. This is the reason the LOOPDOT exists.
  • Built-in 600 mAh rechargeable battery and a machined aluminium body.
  • Three finishes: Aluminum Gray, Aluminum Green, Aluminum Blue.

The honest part

Three things you should know before you buy:

  1. There are brighter, cheaper lights in this shop. The Acebeam Keylite 500 gives 500 lumens for AED 89; the Olight i3E EOS is AED 59. You are not paying AED 199 for output — you are paying for the pixel display and the dial.
  2. LOOP GEAR does not publish an IP rating for the LOOPDOT. We are not going to invent one. Treat it as a dry-pocket item: no rain, no pool, no boat. If you need something you can drown, read what IP ratings actually promise and pick an IPX8 light instead.
  3. No published runtime figures, and the 600 mAh battery is built in. LOOP GEAR does not publish per-mode runtimes, so we are not quoting any. The cell is not user-replaceable.
